Enjoy this Ugadi with Sweet Coconut Puran Poli. This is the most beloved sweet desert and is prepared usually during Ugadi Festival. It is also known as puran puri or bobbattu or obbattu. This traditional dish is prepared using Jaggery and Bengal gram dal the puran poli is prepared using jaggery and Bengal gram dal. At some South Indian places, grated coconut is also used. What are the ingredients I need to make Sweet Coconut Polis?

·         Maida (All Purpose Flour)                            2 cups
·         Semolina                                                             2tbsp
·         Turmeric                                                              a pinch
·         Jaggery                                                                 1 ½ cup
·         Coconut                                                               2 cup , grated
·         Cardamom                                                          2 – 3, powder
·         Ghee                                                                     2 tbsp
·         Water                                                                   1 cup

What is the method to prepare Coconut Puran Poli?

·         Take a bowl, add all purpose flour, semolina, turmeric powder and knead soft dough         using little water. Colander till the dough becomes soft. Keep it aside for 30 minutes
·         Till that time, add ½ cup of water in a deep bottomed pan and then melt the jaggery at medium flame. Stir at often to avoid it from sticking to the pan.
·         Now, add the grated coconut in the pan and mix well. Cook till the jaggery's stability looks thick.
·         Remove the pan from the stove and let it cool
·         Take the dough and make small balls of it. Flatten that on your palm. Now fill the jaggery mix to it. seal the edges into a ball again
·         Grease a plastic cover with ghee and place it over the ball. Now gently roll the ball into a flat roti.
·         Heat frying pan, and cook these polis
·         The coconut puran poli is ready to eat. Serve this Ugadi sweet dish hot.
